I don’t know about you guys, but during the cold winter months, my lips are drier than the Sahara desert! No one likes dry and chapped lips, so here are a few tips to get those lips soft, smooth, and of course kissable!
Just like any other part of your body, your lips need exfoliating too. Exfoliating removes that layer of dead skin and allows for new supple skin to form. Your lips will be instantly smoother and softer. This process also stimulates blood flow, making your lips swell temporarily. It will make your lips look fuller and plumper, which is always a plus!
Start by wetting your lips with warm water. Next, take a toothbrush and lightly brush your lips using circular motions. You will start to see all the dead skin coming off to reveal beautiful, silky smooth lips! Super easy and quick!
- Sugar Scrub:
You will need brown sugar, honey, and olive oil. I just eye-ball the measurements depending on what consistency I would like it to be. Mix those ingredients together and apply on your dry lips using circular motions. I like to cover my lips with the scrub and let it soak in for 30 sec or so. Then take a towel and wipe off the product. Make sure you put the scrub you made in a small container and store it in the fridge for next time!
Although exfoliating is great, make sure you don’t over exfoliate because it will damage the skin. I would recommend doing this about 2-3 times a week tops.
Tip: For those of you who wear lipstick, exfoliate your lips beforehand. It provides a nice base for the lipstick to lie on. This makes the application a lot smoother and long lasting.
After using either method to exfoliate your lips, it is important to hydrate! This will lock in the moisture and prolong those soft lips.
This will always be my go to product to hydrate my lips. After exfoliating I slather this on and head to bed. It really seeps into the skin and you will wake up with soft plump lips. Love it!
- Vitamin E Stick:
I use the Reviva Labs Vitamin E Stick all throughout the day. It has a ton of great ingredients that my lips just love! It includes Vitamin E, beeswax, olive oil, and the list goes on. These natural ingredients help with hydrating, protecting and soothing the skin. This particular product even comes with an SPF of 15 for added sun protection! I also love the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Swivel Stick. It has a delicious smell and provides my lips with the hydration it needs. I highly recommend finding a lip balm that includes these ingredients. It will help lock in the moisture and keep those lips hydrated all day long!
Let me know if these tips help you achieve the soft and smooth lips you’ve always wanted. No more dry and cracked lips!
